In September 2003, the Canadian Association of Textile Chemists and Colourists (Ontario) and the Textile Society of Canada merged to become the Canadian Textile Association. Both organizations had been active since the 1930s.
Governed by an elected council of eight, today's association provides members with opportunities for "Sharing Expertise and Experience." Events throughout Ontario focus on the exchange of information and provide opportunities for members to expand their networks within industry. The current President is John Secondi.
The association works closely with other industry groups, partnering with CTT Group to hold an annual Workwear Conference in Toronto and maintaining membership with the Textiles Human Resources Council. Members also meet each year for an Annual General Meeting in Niagara Falls, a Christmas gathering and for golf tournaments.
New members are welcome, and those interested should contact Stephen Laramee at slaramee@on.aibn.com. Individual or corporate memberships are available in a number of categories at fees that range from $50 to $800 per year. |
